This charming child and dog friendly holiday cottage has been designed with care, to make your holiday as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.  The simple and spacious layout is complimented by bright rooms and contemporary furnishings throughout, and includes everything you require for a very memorable holiday.

The heart of the holiday home cottage is the sitting room, which has a TV with Freeview, a DVD and CD player with a USB port to connect your MP3 player, plus a large library of DVD’s to watch.  The wood-burning stove adds a cheerful focal point to the room, and a childproof fireguard is available to guests if required.  Naturally there’s lots of comfy seating, and a space to relax in.

IMG_0083The kitchen comes complete with crockery, cutlery and cookware, plus all the essentials such as a kettle, a ceramic hob, an electric oven, a microwave, a fridge with a freezer compartment, a dishwasher, and even a washing machine.  Adjoining the modern kitchen is a seating area, which has comfy armchairs, a coffee table, plus plenty of books, games and jigsaws to keep everyone entertained if the weather is inclement.  Plan your excursions across the Scottish Borders, Northumberland and beyond throughout your stay with the handy selection of tourist leaflets at your disposal.

The dining area can seat up to six, and as well as a table and chairs, a highchair or booster seat is also available for guests with small children, babies and toddlers. From the dining room French doors open out onto the well-tended garden, which is the ideal spot for a lazy afternoon, a light lunch, glass of wine in the sun, or a barbeque with family and friends.  The summerhouse is a good place for a nap, read a book in peace and quiet, or from which to observe the local wildlife and birds.

Upstairs, the family bathroom has a large bath and separate shower, plus lashings of hot water.  Unwind with a long soak in the tub after a long day of sightseeing, fishing, cycling or walking, then wrap yourself in a hot towel from the heated towel rail as you step out, refreshed.  Of course all towels and bedding are included in your stay.

The master bedroom is simply furnished with contemporary furnishings and includes; a double bed, side tables, lamps, a hairdryer, and ironing facilities.  The second bedroom has twin beds, with an extra single bed or cot available on request.  This room also has a TV with a DVD player and a library of DVD’s to watch, and is ideal for children with a selection of toys and books to keep them entertained.

Children are welcome, upon request, to use the large trampoline, sandpit and swings in the garden, though do so at their own risk, and parental supervision is advised at all times.  With lots of grassy space to play football, a hollowed out yew tree den, table tennis, swing ball, badminton, and Pooh Sticks in the stream, this is a great holiday location for children.  The River Whiteadder is great for swimming, though the water is cold.  Alternatively there’s an available paddling pool in the garden, and swimming pools in many of the local towns e.g. Duns, Kelso, Eyemouth and Berwick which are open throughout the year.

A very well behaved dog is permitted by arrangement although we request that it is not permitted upstairs in the cottage.  There is ample parking for vehicles.  Your stay includes all linen and towels, central heating, electricity, and an ample supply of logs.

During your stay at Yew Trees cottage, there is the opportunity for our guests to look after the chickens.  The children can collect eggs in time for boiled eggs and soldiers for breakfast, whilst adults may choose eggs Florentine using our fresh vegetables which are available for pre order along with seasonal fruit.

New this season is a wood burning hot tub, which has just been installed in July.   You can relax on a evening and enjoy the splendid views.
